Two local women have been organising a #March4Justice rally.

The movement nationally was sparked by academic and feminist Janine Hendry, who was upset by the government's reaction to Brittany Higgins, allegedly raped in Parliament House by a fellow ministerial staffer.

Peita Vincent said all people deserve respect, justice, fairness and equality, and women deserve to feel safe at home, work and in the community.

This, coupled with the desire to give regional women a voice, inspired her to help organise a Wagga chapter of the #March4Justice rally.

"With the recent reports of gendered violence occurring at Parliament House ... I think we are seeing that women are angry and they are frustrated," Ms Vincent said.

"#March4Justice is a national movement, and it is demanding action. It is urging widespread change in workplaces, parliament and the justice system."

Ms Vincent said the march is about providing Riverina women with a voice, especially those who are not believed when they report sexual assaults' and those who are sidelined in the workplaces and community.

"We are going to counter that dominant, and dare I say, arrogant narrative," she said.

"This affects the women of Wagga. These issues are not isolated to Canberra or the major cities."

Ms Vincent has described herself as a feminist for as long as she can remember, and currently, she sits on the committee for the Wagga Women's Health Centre.

She added that change comes about through various forms of action, and these "troubling issues" need to be tackled.

"It's unacceptable that women underreport sexual violence because they fear the repercussions," Ms Vincent said.

"We are marching in solidarity with survivors. It is an inclusive rally, it will be peaceful, and we encourage men to come as allies."

Wagga councillor Vanessa Keenan echoed Ms Vincent's comments that the issues being discussed on a national level affect Wagga's women.

"It's difficult enough for women to have their voice heard, so the opportunity to provide a platform for women here in Wagga is important," she said.

"Being in a position where I am one of two women in Wagga City Council, and I am the most diverse person, says a lot - because I am not that diverse.

"I have had a couple of fellow councillors pull me into line for saying I represent half the population, saying that they represent women too, but I disagree. It's those kinds of attitudes that suppress women and continue to suppress women."

Ms Keenan said anyone who attends the march needs to wear a mask, bring hand sanitiser and placards, and anyone who is sick should stay home.

She added event details are being finalised, but the march will kick off at 12pm in central Wagga followed by a rally at the amphitheatre outside the Wagga Civic Theatre.
