Ten days ago Christal Stanley's home was trashed and set alight, before a second fire early on Wednesday morning destroyed the home.
On February 26, she was heading out for a weekend away with her family to Lake Cargelligo, leaving a sitter to look after her pets and house at Frances Court, Ashmont.
"I had left, and when I woke up on Saturday, I saw that the sitter had tried to call me multiple times throughout the night," she said.
"When I called him back, I found out that someone had tried to burn the house down, and it had been vandalised."
A vulgar slur was written on the wall, and wet cat food had been poured onto the children's beds and throughout the house, she said.
The laptops and X-Box had been covered in oil and paint, and food products had been thrown everywhere.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"He had been able to put the fire out which started on the gas stove, and he's burnt his hands trying to put that out," she said.
"He lives across the road from us with his parents, and his father called police. The sitter locked up the house after the police went through."
Ms Stanley said family and neighbours rallied to help the next day - a Saturday - when forensics came to look at the house as she was still in Lake Cargelligo.
Ms Stanley added it was "devastating" to come back to Wagga to her home to see it had been trashed.
"The house was uninhabitable because the smell was so putrid," she said.
"The ceiling was burnt quite significantly, so since Sunday night, I have been staying at my parents' house with the children and pets."
Ms Stanley continued to deal with insurance and police concerning that matter, but had no idea it was far from over.
She woke to police calling her in the early hours of Wednesday morning to see if she and her children were home because the house was completely alight after a second fire had been started, less than a week after the first.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the home could not be saved.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the blaze has since begun, with police treating it as suspicious.
"It has been traumatic ... I am just glad we weren't in the house," Ms Stanley said.
"It feels like a personal attack against me because of the word [written on the wall], and the fact that nothing was stolen was quite bizarre.
"I have lived there for 15 years ... and aside from this, I have never had an issue or a drama."
Valuables have been destroyed, baby photos have been lost and Ms Stanley said she has been left homeless.
But, she added that she is determined to keep her chin up and is grateful to her family and friends who have rallied around her.
She also thanked the emergency services, which have been working to find out what happened.
"I just hope they catch them," Ms Stanley said. "I don't feel safe. I want to know they have been caught. That would mean the world to me."
Fire investigators scoured the remains of the burnt Wagga home on Friday, looking for any clues as to what caused the blaze behind the damage.
A Fire Investigation and Research crew were deployed from Sydney, going through the rubble with the help of a sniffer dog trained to detect accelerants.
A FRNSW spokesperson told The Daily Advertiser on Friday that they hope to have answers within the coming weeks.
In a statement from NSW Police, they said an examination and investigation of the crime scene is being completed, and inquiries are continuing.
A neighbour of Ms Stanley, Julia Morgan, decided to start a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the family.
"Christal and her sons have sadly lost everything to a house fire ... only have the clothes on their back left," she wrote on the page.
"Christal is a beautiful mum who lives for her kids. It has been a hard and emotional time for this family, if anyone could donate it would mean the world to help get this family back on there feet."
