Wagga Ambulance Station Inspector Eamonn Purcell said paramedics were called to the scene at 3.45pm on Saturday.
"It was a high-speed pushbike accident, and we had two patients," he said.
"The first one was a male about 50 years old, competing in a push bike race who collided with another bike and ended up going over the handlebars at approximately 50k kilometres a hour.

"He had head and limb injuries."
Mr Purcell said the second patient was a 49-year-old man who also suffered limb injuries, abrasions, lacerations and possible fractures.
Both men were taken to Wagga Base Hospital.
Barry O'Hagan, an official at the Tollland Open Handicap, said the accident happened 200 metres before the finish line, and considering there were about 80 riders it was lucky more were not injured.
He said the organisers wished both the cyclists involved a speedy recovery.
