McPherson Oval hosted last season's decider with the premier ground unavailable due to the AFL pre-season trial between Richmond and Greater Western Sydney.
It was the first time the Wagga Cricket grand final had not been held at the venue since 2013, when it was closed for renovations.
However with last year's move so successful Wagga Cricket are considering following suit again this year.
New chairman Brenton Crawford revealed how pitch quality will determine where the grand final is played on March 21.
"We will make a decision for the preliminary final, which will be the grand final venue," Crawford said.
"We have locked in the two grounds but haven't made a decision either way."
If Robertson Oval is not used for first grade it will instead host the second grade grand final.

However Wagga Cricket have confirmed the first grade decider will be a Sunday showcase.
With the move to playing only a one-day competition this season, the grand final was originally slated for the Saturday.
Only one of the 15 rounds were played on a Sunday this season, but in a bid to draw a larger crowd the first grade grand final will be a standalone affair.
Instead it will be played the day after the second, third and fourth grade deciders.
"It will be a Sunday grand final for first grade purely because we want to showcase our event and maximise crowd numbers," Crawford said.
"Looking at last year's Sunday grand final, although it was two-day cricket, the crowd was unbelievable on a Sunday and it is something we're looking to replicate.
"We can also throw catering options to the clubs.
"We thought it was in the best interest of cricket to showcase our number one game for the year moving it to Sunday was a no-brainer for the board.
"There is no backup options for rain so for us it was a pretty easy decision."
The venues for both semi-finals this weekend are yet to be determined but Robertson Oval and McPherson Oval will be the grounds.
