The news came to the immense relief of retiree Ken Larkin, who spent much of Friday morning trying in vain to find a vacant disability parking spot.
The Cootamundra resident was down in Wagga trying to visit his wife in hospital, but found himself going around in circles in search of a space.
"It's all full. I'm a stranger here, so I've got to find my way around," Mr Larkin said.
"I could be here all day and there's only two-hour parking. I hope they take notice of the disabled-parking sign on the car. If that's there, they shouldn't touch you."

Young man Jed Reardon was relieved to find a carpark on Friday, after having injured himself water skiing at Lake Albert.
"I've recently hurt me arm. It's just a bit swollen," Mr Reardon said.
"At least the lake's looking good. I thought I'd come and check it out, see what's going on."
Wagga City Councillor Dan Hayes, who is on the traffic committee, said the car park was a long time coming for frustrated residents.
Cr Hayes there had long been a shortage of parking at the hospital, causing grief for patients and staff, as well as the nearby residents who found their streets and driveways clogged with parked cars.
"This is a much needed piece of infrastructure for Wagga, not just for patients and visitors and staff, but also for the residents in that area that are finding it challenging to access their homes due to the growth of the hospital and all the work that's been done over the year," Cr Hayes said.
"This car park should have been on the plan from day one when the redevelopment was announced back in the day, so it took the community fighting for it, and now it's happened."
The car park will be six stories high and free to use for all hospital patients and workers.
Construction is due to start later this year.
