Early morning electrical storms in Wagga threatened to play havoc with the Red Hill Public School swimming carnival on Thursday but the skies settled in time for an enjoyable day out at the Oasis complex.

The efforts of Mortimer house didn't go unrecognised as they continued their recent dominance of the carnival, overcoming their rivals, the traditional athletics powerhouse, Sterling.
Five age champions enjoyed their day in the sun and the best performers in each event qualified for quick return to Oasis next Tuesday for the PSSA representative carnival.
But the school's emphasis was on far more than competition.
"It was a great day for the kids and a chance to give them those experiences that they may not always have," carnival coordinator Lisa Jones said.
"Our noodle events are probably the highlight of the day and our non-swimmers get a chance to jump in too."
Staff joined in the fun, getting into the spirit of the occasion with students who were unable to participate.
"It's good to get them in safely to have fun and be part of the day," Jones said.
