About 7.10pm on Wednesday, emergency services were called to Burraboi Road near Wakool.
It was reported that a car had left the road and hit a tree.
Officers from the Murray River Police District found the driver deceased on arrival.

The driver is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be a man aged in his 50s.
Police have established a crime scene and diversions are in place around the accident site.
Specialist officers will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and will prepare a report for the coroner.

The incident caused traffic troubles for hours afterwards.
