The 26-year-old fronted Wagga Local Court on Monday facing a string charges including procuring a child for unlawful sexual activity, and in an unrelated incident three counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic violence) and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO.

His solicitor Rod Kennedy said the man who was residing in the South Coast had pleaded guilty to the various charges at different stages of the proceedings.

"Contravening the AVO and intimidation matters are at the lower end of offending ... although they are heightened by his history," he said.

Mr Kennedy said the offender was heavily under the influence of drugs, but added that the matter involving procurement was the most serious, and there was no question of jail time.

"It's just a question of how long that should be ... he is a candidate that should be on parole, so he is not just released into the world with no one there," he said.

"He would like to move back to the Wagga area. The prospects of him reoffending in regards to the sexual offence are low to medium risk."

History, facts, and two reports were tendered to the court; one from a psychologist and a corrective officer's sentencing assessment report.

During Mr Kennedy's submissions, Magistrate Christopher Halburd questioned him and said the specialised assessment said there was an "above average risk of re-offending".

Regarding the intimidation and AVO breach, Magistrate Halburd read out how the offender banged on the door of an Ashmont home saying "let me in, or I will smash the door down" leading the victim's two children to push the door in to stop it from being opened.

"How is that not above the mid-range," Magistrate Halburd asked of Mr Kennedy. "That's your honour's opinion ... and therefore we are not going to argue with it," Mr Kennedy replied.

Magistrate Halburd acknowledged that the offender had a "somewhat difficult upbringing" without appropriate role models and had a longstanding drug issue but said it was difficult to find him remorseful.

He added that the man attempted to recruit a 14-year-old, who was known to him, to engage in sexual acts for money, with text messages nominating specific amounts for specific acts.

Magistrate Halburd read to the court a text from the victim that said "it's not cute it's weird. I am 14".

"He then responds by sending three images of his penis," he said.

The man was sentenced to 30 months in jail, which was backdated to start on June 11, 2020. He will be eligible for release on December 10.
