WAGGA BEACH PLAYGROUND BETTER SUITED TO LAKE ALBERT
In recent days it is fantastic to see the council get themselves into gear regarding Lake Albert, however it is a shame that it is only due to public outcry, ongoing added pressure by ratepayers and putting a fire under the backsides of current councilors, but credit where credit is due.

In regards to the current upgrade of the Wagga "Beach" precinct and playground, would it not make more sense to put a multimillion-dollar play area at Lake Albert since we are finally getting an upgrade and not in a flood area?
The Wagga City councilors still baffle me on how they are in office; which is why I am running, giving the power back to the ratepayers!

OVER-DEVELOPMENT AT THE HEART OF LAKE ALBERT'S WOES
It was quite cruel for Keith Wheeler ("Small towns, full lakes: lessons for Wagga", The Daily Advertiser, February 1) to point out that Lake Jerilderie and Temora's Lake Centenary are full and that it is only Wagga's Lake Albert that resembles a marsh more than a lake.
His eyewitness report and photograph of other local lakes brimming with water from the unprecedented recent rainfall must have the climate wokelings seething that Lake Albert's demise is not evidence at all for climate change.
Lake Albert's woes have been caused by human activity, to be sure. But the activity has nothing to do with climate - it's housing.
When we poured concrete and bitumen over all the normal run-off areas that fed the lake, sank foundations, and built earthworks which completely altered the topography of its catchment, we strangled the lake of its lifeblood - what was once the natural flow of its water intake.
If you wonder why the natural beauty of Lake Albert is now in its death throes, look no further than the clustered and cluttered Legoland of suburbia that now rings it like a concrete collar. Ironically, the over-development was so attractive to begin with because that same natural beauty of the lake made people want to live as close to it as they could. Here's the result of that.

CONSTITUENTS SHOULD KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MP
It appears to be inevitable that legislation seeking euthanasia in NSW will come before the NSW Parliament.
The Member for Wagga Wagga, the Dr Joe McGirr, has been under pressure from some quarters to vote in favour of this bill when the time comes.
Surely those of his constituents who voted for him in the election would have been well aware of his Christian background and the fact that he is a practicing doctor of medicine.

Dr McGirr has said that he would give careful consideration to this vexing question.
Since Dr McGirr is an independent MP and therefore owes no allegiance to any party, then he will vote according to his conscience.
This is why he is Wagga's Member of Parliament.
