Operation Spoiler combines the efforts of Highway Patrol units alongside general duty officers and detectives, launching over Friday and Saturday night this week.
Riverina Highway Patrol Acting Inspector Ben Smith said the operation would focus on four key offences.
"We will be targeting the Four Ds, which is drink, drug, dangerous and distracted driving," he said.
"We'll be covering ground between Albury, Wagga and Griffith using Highway Patrol vehicles."
In other news:
"There will also be a big emphasis on road crimes, so essentially any criminals using out road networks Friday and Saturday night will be our target," he said.
