Benjamin Charles Rosenow faced Griffith Local Court on Wednesday charged with five counts of intentionally causing a fire and being reckless as to its spread.
Police allege Mr Rosenow deliberately lit more than 30 separate spot fires in the Whitton area between November and January.
The 30-year-old was arrested by strike force detectives at a home in Whitton just after 11am on January 22.
A search warrant was executed at the home, with investigators seizing items of interest for forensic examination.
In court on Wednesday, Mr Rosenow made no application for bail and it was formally refused.
The case returns to Griffith Local Court on February 10.
