Harness racing was set to return to Wagga on Tuesday but will be transferred, most likely to Leeton, due to the ongoing repairs.
The repairs, which started last month, were scheduled to be completed in time for the February 2 meeting to be held at Riverina Paceway but a delay with material has forced Harness Racing NSW to transfer the program.
The repairs are part of much-needed work to help the multi million dollar facility handle wet weather better.
"We'll try and get that transferred to Leeton," Harness Racing NSW chief executive John Dumesny said.
"The reason being, there have been delays with the track material. It's no big deal, really, other than it's been transferred."
Dumesny is confident the repairs will be completed at Riverina Paceway in time to host the next meeting on February 16, but stressed they will transfer it too if it means getting the job done right.
"The 16th is the next one after that but we won't be taking any shortcuts with it and we won't be taking any risks with it," Dumesny said.
"We'll monitor this meeting by meeting. But the region will certainly keep the race meetings, that shouldn't impact too many people other than the fact they'll have to travel from Wagga."
Leeton will race on Friday night, and then potentially, back up on Tuesday night.
Meantime, Dumesny said there was little anyone could do to prevent the lights going out on Junee Pacers Cup night on Monday.
The last three races of the night were abandoned due to the blackout, that occurred just after the feature race.
"Someone had a big shot at Junee about it, had a big shot at us about it, that we should be doing more with the lights and everything," Dumesny said.
"In Bexley and other suburbs in Sydney, the lights went out as well, the electricity failed. It was an extremely hot occurrence.
"We'll talk to the club about the Allan & Phyllis Harpley Memorials. Our funding that we contributed towards that, we will leave in their if they want to run those races at another time.
"It's just one of those things, it was hot, bloody hot. It's unfortunate."
