Gobbagombalin resident Christie Worth appeared in Wagga Local Court via video link on Monday after pleading guilty to two offences.
On October 22, police were alerted that Worth was riding on a bike that was possibly stolen. Initially, two officers approached her and informed her she was under arrest as she was wanted for three outstanding warrants.
Worth become agitated but was calmed down. When two constables arrived at the scene, the 38-year-old became aggressive, calling one of them a "smug c---".
When she saw police putting gloves on, Worth said "search me and see what happens. I wouldn't if I were you".
She continued by saying to one officer "get that f--king slut away from me".
The officers put Worth in the back of a police vehicle, at which point she turned to face them and kicked out, hitting one constable in the shin.
She then reached forward and grabbed at another constable's sunglasses and dragged them down their face causing a laceration from the forehead to cheek on the right side and a small laceration to the left side of the forehead.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"She understands emergency workers have a very difficult and traumatic job and she made that all the worse," he said.
"Initially, she pleaded not guilty ... she wasn't thinking as clearly as she does now."
Mr Barron said the 38-year-old had a "difficult life" and had been the victim of multiple crimes, including an aggravated break and enter.
He added Worth had also undergone emergency surgery 12 months ago and suffered from mental health issues.
Magistrate Christopher Halburd said it needs to be understood that police officers are just doing their jobs.
"It's no minor injury ... it could have been a very serious situation indeed if that had continued and made contact with the eye," he said.
"The message needs to be sent to people if you assault police officers, you will be dealt with harshly by the courts."
Worth was given a combined sentence of 10 months, backdated to commence on November 21. She is eligible for parole on April 20.
