Police, firefighters, ambulance and council crews were called to the scene at 11.39 on Saturday morning after reports the sludge tank had overturned on Gundagai Road near Wantabadgery Road.
The tank has lost its load across one lane of traffic.
Two occupants of another vehicle were caught up in small collision with the tank after it turned.
The adult and child from the second car were assessed on the scene by paramedics before being conveyed to Junee hospital by a third-party.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said it is understood the child suffered only minor injuries amounting to mostly cuts and bruises.
The driver of the tanker is believed to have escaped without injury.
Hazmat crews and council workers are now in place, trying to clear the highway of debris.
Drivers are warned to avoid the area while as minor traffic diversions remain in place in either direction.
