Bruce Leary and Helen O'Connell went away for 10 days and returned last Thursday to find an enormous zucchini had "taken over" their garden.
"We nearly tripped over the zucchini when we walked down the path. It was the first time we'd been away in nearly a year. So this was our big adventure and the garden went berserk," Mrs O'Connell said.

"Everything we could we picked to take to our daughter because I thought it would all be dead when we got back."
She said it was the biggest vegetable she'd seen in her many years' gardening. She plans to give it to a neighbour to make slice with.
Mr Leary estimated the zucchini to be 70 centimetres long, attributing its success to his wife's green thumb.
"Helen could put a stick into the ground and turn it into a plant. I could put a plant into the ground and turn it into a stick," he said.
Theirs is an impressive vegetable, for sure, but the longest zucchini on record was an immense 2.52 metres, according to Guinness World Records.
