Forestry Corporation's Fire and Stewardship manager Charlie Taylor said hot, dry conditions were expected and some key visitor areas remained closed.

"With school holidays coming to an end, many families are looking for an excuse to get out of the house to picnic, bushwalk or re-connect with nature," he said.

"If you do plan to visit a state forest, please take some time to plan ahead and be aware of the conditions.

"Solid fuel fires are banned in state forests over summer, but gas appliances are allowed unless there is a total fire ban in place."

Visitors are also asked to monitor the Rural Fire Service website and Fires Near Me app for information about total fire bans.

"We also encourage anyone planning to visit a State forest to check the Forestry Corporation website for any closures and alerts to avoid disappointment," Mr Taylor said.

"Unfortunately, some popular state forest visitor destinations such as Blowering Dam's western foreshore are currently closed.

"The combination of fires and wet weather over the past year has made road conditions perilous and, despite extensive work to stabilise and restore damaged roads, the entire area remains unsafe for visitors in the short term."
