The school lost six classrooms in a fire just over two years ago, and upcoming construction on a replacement building is set to render the outside hours care facility temporarily unusable.
President of the outside hours care sub-committee Peta Gilholme said they saw an opportunity when the Wagga Commercial Club announced its permanent closure late last year, and they were able to negotiate a lease with the Wagga RSL which owns the building.
"They've (the RSL) been incredibly supportive and accommodating for us and we can't speak highly enough about the RSL and their staff and their willingness to help us make that space," Ms Gilholme said.
She said the venue is right across the street from the school with a manned crossing linking the two, and the committee was lucky to have found somewhere close by and safe to get to.
"We didn't want to be putting younger children on buses to vacation care and after school care," she said.
Vacation care moved into the space last week, and Ms Gilholme said the students were loving it.
"It's certainly going to be a fun year for all the kids that are going to be in that space," she said.
A NSW education department spokesperson said a development application had been lodged for the new building which will feature six classrooms, two offices, toilet facilities and a lift.
Construction will go ahead following approval, with the department website estimating an earl 2022 completion.
