The Bulldogs won both of their matches over the weekend to improve their record to four wins and a loss from their fives games.
However with a significantly lower quotient they need unbeaten Wagga City to down South Wagga on Tuesday night to guarantee their place on Friday.
First the Bulldogs bowlers came to the fore as they defended 4-123 against Kooringal Colts to win by five runs and then it was their batting effort that got them over the line against St Michaels on Sunday.
Captain Sam Perry was pleased with both winning performances at Wagga Cricket Ground.
"Saturday was a really good game, we've bowled really in the last four or five weeks but the T20 comp has probably strengthened a little bit," Perry said.
"Being at full strength was really good and Cully (Charlie Cull) and Timmy closed the innings out really well.
"We were lucky enough to get a couple of wickets through the middle and thankfully we did enough to give us a chance.
"Then today (Sunday) we bowled really well as 141 was probably par but at stages in the game they probably could have made a few more.
"Again we closed very well and thankfully we had a little superstar in at the end that got us home."
It was the return of Josh Staines who helped the Bulldogs chase down the 4-141 set by St Michaels.
Returning to his junior club for a cameo appearance, Staines made an unbeaten 77 to help the side to an eight-wicket victory with 11 balls to spare.
He put on 98 runs with Ethan Perry (45) after losing an early wicket.
An injury to Todd Henderson on Saturday paved the way for Staines to make an appearance.
He enjoyed being back in Wagga RSL colours.
"It was good actually," Staines said. "I didn't want to take anyone's spot but Toddy unfortunately got injured so I thought why not?"
Ethan Perry backed up a strong showing on Saturday, where he made 21 against Kooringal Colts, to help RSL move into second place.
It came after St Michaels got off to a brilliant start through Nathan Corby (52) and Mick Cattell (38).
However when a Staines run out broke the partnership, and Corby followed, it stopped plenty of the Saints momentum.
The result sees them finish the Twenty20s winless and they will be out to respond when the regular season returns on January 30.
Meanwhile Kooringal Colts and Lake Albert play their final Twenty20 match at Harris Park on Monday.
