The Blues looked to be in a strong position against Wagga RSL at Robertson Oval on Friday night with Blake Harper (45 not out) and Jake Scott (18 not out) set in at the crease before some tight bowling at the death helped the Bulldogs to a three-run win.
After bowling out RSL for 114, stand-in captain Brayden Ambler thought the side didn't score freely enough.
"I think we were just a bit behind the eight ball with our batting," Ambler said.
"We bowled very well, but our batting was a bit below par. There were just too many dot balls.
"I think there were 40 to 50 dot balls in the 20 overs we had and even if half of that was one run per ball you hit 150 in a game of Twenty20."
However the Blues responded with another strong bowling display to down Colts at Harris Park on Saturday.
Despite not really going on with the job with the bat, with Harper top scoring with 28, their 8-126 proved to be more than enough.
Warren Clunes took three pictures as Colts were bowled out for 87 to make it successive losses to start the tournament.
Nathan Cooke backed up with another two wickets, after snaring four against Wagga RSL, and while Ambler has been impressed with their bowling performances he's looking for a better batting display when they face St Michaels on Wednesday night.
"Our bowling is second to none," Ambler said.
