IN OTHER NEWS:
"December 30 marks one year since we lost volunteer Samuel McPaul in a tragic accident caused by the downdraught of a pyro-convective column across the fire ground near Jingellic," Mr Fitzsimmons said.
"We were able to spend time with Sam's wife Megan and their beautiful baby boy Angus, family, fire-line survivors, colleagues and friends for some very special and emotional moments of reflection.
"May we ensure Megan and little Angus always knows that Sam, his dad was a true hero and that we will never forget his sacrifice while protecting and saving others."
