Wagga City Council's strategic asset planner Ben Creighton said the council has entered into a contract to deliver stage two of the Riverside project, which will feature a "regionally significant" playground.
He said the council has multiple concept designs that will be released for public input in January however, overall, this play space is rare for anywhere in Australia, let alone a regional area.

"There are a couple of different aspects to what makes it exceptional. The first one is the size of the play space and the amount of people it can cater for and different age groups, but also in the different types of equipment provided," he said.
"There will be elements of the play space, which will be very big in height and other adventure elements that we haven't seen in Wagga before."
He said construction will start early next year with the expectation of being completed by January 2022.
"It has been a long time in the planning, but it is really great ... to get into the construction phase," he said.
