This year's awards attracted 154 entries which is a 15 per cent increase on entries in 2019 showing a positive outlook for the building industry in ACT and Southern NSW.
The virtual awards night was a huge success with more than 1000 people watching online (including parties of more than one person watching.)
"The way we collaborate and communicate has changed forever," HIA ACT Southern NSW executive director Greg Weller said.
"But when we look back on 2020 it's important we don't forget the way the year began. Much of our region was devastated by some of the worst bush fires in living memory.
"Noone across our region was untouched, in particular the number of members that lost their homes and property during this time.
"Also with the generosity of HIA members across the region to help out a mate or a stranger during this time.
"While many are keen to see 2020 disappear there is also much to be proud of.
"While much of the country has been in lock down the residential building industry continued to operate, adapting and finding new ways to work to stay safe on site while keeping employment going.
"So just as the residential building area will be there to rebuild the south coast of our region equally it will be there to rebuild the Australian economy.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the ACT and Southern NSW HIA team for all of their work throughout this time.
"Thank you to all of our judges who have again given up their time, particularity in a year like this.
"To visit every single property in the awards is an outstanding effort.
"Thank you to CSR, our naming rights sponsor, and to all our partners tonight, without you this event could not go ahead."
