In June, the government fast-tracked a $398 million investment into regional roads with some projects now underway.
$1,286,117 has been allocated to a treatment project at the Mary Gilmore Way, which runs through the centre of the Coolamon Shire.
The project involves a variety of improvements along the road, including marking road edge lines, improvements to the road shoulder, installing guide posts with reflectors, installing flexible roadside barriers and adding audio tactile edge and centre lines.
Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said the project was one of 59 to be accelerated across the state, with the combined safety benefit expected to prevent injuries and fatalities in the future.
"Our funding injection for the NSW Safer Roads Program is about getting boots on the ground and shovels in the dirt to ensure this critical program of works is delivered as quickly as possible, saving lives and livelihoods," Mr McCormack said.
