The Miss Wagga crown was handed to Miss Smith for 2020 alongside Community Princess Brittany Hackett, however the unexpected hurdles caused by the pandemic made their reigning year drastically different.
It was her expectation as a titleholder to have a greater presence in the community, but she said that "obviously changed very quickly".
"We made the most of the opportunities, we were still involved in the community and made the most of a different year," she said.
However, Miss Smith leaped at the chance to be the face of the quest for another year and to be out in the community after no titleholder was crowned for 2021.
"Obviously this year was something no one could control, but the quest has given so much to me ... I couldn't let them go without a representative for the year," she said.
"It is important for me to give back in another way to an organisation that gave me so much."
The citizenship ceremonies will be events Miss Smith is eager to attend to share in those "heartwarming moments" for Wagga's newest Australian citizens.
"There is so much joy and happiness and it's not an event that everyone gets to be a part of," she said.
"They always seem so happy that they get to see Miss Wagga there and I like being involved in one of their memories."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Miss Wagga Quest chairwoman Ali Tanner said it will be "business as usual" next year after postponing the quest for Miss Wagga 2021.
Mrs Tanner said they are anticipating quite a number of entrants and it will be important to have Miss Smith there to support the entrants as they start their Miss Wagga Quest journey.
"What Miss Wagga would have ordinarily done Hannah did not get to do all of it, through no fault of her own, ours or anybody. Everyone had a loss this year," she said.
"But, it is important for Hannah to step into some of those events she could have done this year and continue to represent the quest as Miss Wagga always has and for the entrants to know there is a quest coming up."
