Scoop is the latest addition to the Cadell Place hub, and is all about the gelato.

Jill and Danny Russell are the property owners, but lease the majority of the space out to other businesses.

However, the pair decided to open up the gelato bar as their own business.

"It is something that we have been dreaming and planning for some time," Mrs Russell said.

"There is definitely a need down this end of town for a dessert option with all the great restaurants such as Thaigga, Guiseppe's, Uneke, Meccanico, the Thirsty Crow and also the pubs and cinema.

"We would have been happy for someone else to do it, but no one else did, so we decided to."

Scoop opened up on Friday, and Mrs Russell said they were thrilled with the first weekend.

The big winner was the boysenberry cheesecake flavour.

Initially, the dessert bar will be opening up from Thursday to Sunday but Mrs Russell said they will be looking to open seven days a week during the holidays.
