A FORMER school employee will face court today after investigations into the alleged grooming and sexual assault of a student in southern NSW.

Detectives from the State Crime Command's Child Abuse Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation in August into reports that a 14-year-old girl had been sexually abused in by a man employed at the school she attended.
Inquiries led investigators to arrest a 40-year-old man about 9.45am on Thursday.
Subsequent search warrants were executed at two homes in the Riverina where police seized electronic devices, knives and a sling shot which will now be subject to forensic examination.
The man was taken to Tumut police station where he was charged with eleven counts of intentionally sexually touch child (aged between 10 and 16), three counts of sexual intercourse with child (aged between 10 and 16), intentionally do sexual act with child (aged between 10 and 16) and groom child for unlawful sexual activity.

Police will allege in court that the man groomed the girl while employed at the school she attended before sexual assaulting her on numerous occasions between August 2019 and March 2020.
The 40-year-old was refused bail to appear at Wagga Local Court today.
