Cootamundra Highwway Patrol officers signalled for a BMW sedan to pull over along Goldfields Way, Old Junee, just after 11pm on Saturday.
After speaking with the 29-year-old man driving the vehicle, he was subject to a roadside drug test which returned a positive reading.
Police then searched the man's vehicle and located a knife in the driver's side footwell.

The 29-year-old was placed under arrest and taken to Temora Police Station where he refused a secondary drug test.
The man was charged with possession of a knife in a public place, and refuse secondary oral fluid test. He was given conditional bail to attend Temora Local Court at a later date.
