Tiggerlong Pink has never been unplaced in six starts from the widest draw and brought up her fourth win in the final heat of the Ladbrokes Back Yourself 5th Grade Series (400m).
Four of her seven race wins have been from box eight.
Trainer Mick Finn believes she's been well named.
"She loves the pink," Finn said.
"It must be in the name.
"She seems to like the eight and at least she tries."
Tiggerlong Pink ($3.20) missed the placings in her last four starts, but bounced back to winning ways as she ran down Westcott Bale ($1.65 fav), who blew the start, to win by a head.
Finn is now hoping she can draw her favourite box in next week's final.
Tiggerlong Pink was the slowest of the three heat winners but her 23.31 seconds was only 0.3 seconds behind fastest qualifier Dust Storm for Brian Smith.
Loch Road clocked 23.21 to win for Barry Coleman.
Tiggerlong Pink has now won two races since returning to the Riverina.
It seems to suit her.
"She was down in Melbourne for a while but I don't think she liked the big kennel," Finn said.
"She has won a couple since coming back and it will do her confidence the world of good."
Meanwhile Tranquil Gypsy made it six wins, and two seconds, from her last eight starts with a narrow win in the Graeme Hull Smash Repairs Free For All (400m) for Rod Oakman.
