Campbell has signed with Western Region Football League division two club Parkside as assistant coach for 2021.
Campbell returned to Tigers this season and played a major part in the club's AFL Riverina Championship premiership campaign.
He made the move out of Victoria to reunite with the club once Melbourne was put into lockdown.
Campbell has since returned to Melbourne and always planned to play back in the city next year despite strong interest from a number of country clubs.
"I'm looking forward to having some fun, playing with some mates," Campbell said.
"It is super close to home and a few of the boys who play there come to the gym."
Campbell coached Tigers from 2016-18 and led the club to a premiership in his first season in charge.
He moved to Melbourne at the end of the 2018 season and spent 2019 with Ballarat League club Melton.
Campbell joins Parkside under coach Chris Muratore, with the club having played in the last two preliminary finals.
