Students at Wagga's public schools may be entering another scorching summer without air conditioning, as the NSW government's cooler classrooms program continues to roll-out.

There are six schools from the Wagga state electorate currently on the list awaiting air conditioning, heating and fresh air ventilation installations as part of the initiative that was first announced in 2018.
The program is projected to be a five-year investment of up to $500 million.

A spokesperson for the NSW Department of Education confirmed to The Daily Advertiser that Forest Hill Public School and Kooringal High School have received installation of the systems.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson said, work is still to be done at North Wagga Public School, Sturt Public School, Tumut Public School and Wagga High School. These schools remain in the design, tender or delivery phases of the program.
"In the greater Wagga Wagga area, 34 schools are included in the Cooler Classrooms program with work having started at 28 schools," the spokesperson said.
"Across NSW there are currently 366 schools where Cooler Classrooms works are either in design, at tender or in the delivery stage."
Among all the schools in the state that are on the list, 180 have been completed. An additional 2531 learning spaces and 183 libraries have also been completed statewide.
