"It all started because people on our street were doing it and we thought we might as well join," she said.
It takes the pair couple of good weeks to get the house and other decorations ready. So, the O'Briens have already started to sift and sort through the garage full of reindeers, lights, Santas and nativity scenes.
Mrs O'Brien said they put it out differently each night, and every year they try to outdo themselves.
"We have some overhead lights to really brighten the front line," she said.
"Hubby made some 10-foot high poles so we can string some lights to illuminate everything that is underneath."
Mrs O'Brien added that 2020 has been an incredibly tough year for everyone, and hopes the bright lights and lively scenes will bring a smile to people's faces.
"I am one of seven, my hubby is one of eight, and we now have five grandkids, so Christmas has always been big," she said. "It's a time to spread cheer."
Another Wagga resident, Robyn Morrison, is also preparing to start decorating.
"Our kids are a little older now, so we decided to go all out," she said.
"My husband grew up with lots of lights being put up, so he is excited that he has the opportunity now.
"The people opposite us are also doing it, so we have joked that there is some friendly competition."
