A family gathering in the western Riverina has turned into the stuff of nightmares after a jumping castle with children blew away, dropping kids from high in the air before landing hundreds of metres away.

Two youngsters were airlifted to hospital after the inflatable castle they were on was picked up by a freak gust of wind, causing the children to fall to the ground.
Emergency services rushed to Tabbita, north of Griffith, just after 2pm on Sunday when they received reports of a jumping castle with children inside taking off in the wind near Tabbita, north of Griffith.
Three Ambulance NSW crews from Griffith responded to the horror incident and a Toll rescue helicopter was also tasked to the area.
Inspector Markus Zarins from NSW Ambulance said it would have been a shocking time for everyone who witnessed the bizarre but extremely dangerous incident.
"It appears that a random gust of wind has hit at a family gathering, lifting the inflatable castle around seven metres into the air, dropping two kids onto the ground," he said.
"This would have been a terrifying experience for everyone at the scene.
"The jumping castle really took off, landing a few hundred metres away from its initial location."

A girl and a boy, both aged 10, were treated by paramedics and stabilised at the scene before being taken to Griffith Base Hospital by road ambulance.
The young girl was suffering a leg injury, while the boy sustained injuries to his arm as well as experiencing neck pain. They were both later airlifted to Wagga Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
