Sharon Hagen's son is the owner of Get Knotted, and as COVID-19 forced the shutdown of markets, they needed to find other ways to reach out to customers.

"He had to diversify through websites, and he is doing quite well, but we wanted to find a way to band together.

"It has been a tough year, so we decided to get together and share the rent and get ourselves out there.

"We have all local, handmade businesses. Everything is made here in Wagga."

Ms Hagen said in the next few weeks there would be 10 to 15 different stallholders coming in and out of the Marketplace shop.

She added that since Tuesday, the store has been teaming with customers who have been eager to buy Christmas presents that are locally sourced.

The willingness and enthusiasm to support Wagga businesses are there, Ms Hagen said, but sometimes customers do not know where to go.

"People are coming in, and they are buying multiple things from different people, and getting all their Christmas shopping done," she said.

"It has been flat chat, and it has been great."

Ms Hagen said from hampers and stocking fillers to artworks, earrings, clothes, plants and crystals; there is something for everyone.

The Wagga Handmade Local Market will be based out of Wagga Marketplace until December 27.
