The Temora product linked with the Wagga side after Group 20 elected to not have a season due to COVID-19.
However he won't take part in Group Nine next year after taking on the captain-coach role with the Greens.
The 23-year-old enjoyed his time at Brothers but had already committed to returning to Leeton after being Group 20's best and fairest in his first club with the club in 2019.
"I owed Leeton as they gave me the opportunity to go over to Group Nine this year and I made a promise with them that I would be back," Philp said.
Philp, who was captain of the side last year, has also taken on the coaching responsibilities as the club celebrates 100 years.
He's looking forward to the challenge.
"We spoke about (coaching) when I first came over and have been building towards that," Philp said.
"Waz (Warren Weir) was intending to coach this year but has other commitments and pulled the pin so the opportunity arose for me.
"It should be good."
Leeton has also signed Albury recruit Shannon Bradbrook, who didn't play a game for the club after they didn't take part in the season.
Meanwhile Brothers are yet to confirm their coaching set up after Cameron Breust guided them to the finals before bowing out in the first week.
