Christopher Browne has served as a principal of other Catholic schools, including St Paul's boys college in Manly and Hennessy Catholic College in Young.
He will take over the position at Kildare from the start of 2021 but it is understood he has already arrived in Wagga and has been introduced to staff.
The appointment was announced on Wednesday by the newly-welcomed Bishop of Wagga, The Most Reverend Mark Edwards OMI and Director of Education at the Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga (CEDWW) Elizabeth O'Carrigan.
"We are delighted to welcome Chris to Kildare and our community of Catholic schools," said Mrs O'Carrigan.

It follows an extensive search to fill the position at the school. Recruitment began in August this year and required a relisting of the job advertisement following the first round.
The school is currently being led by an interim principal in Richard Sidorko, with Christie Scoble acting as co-principal.
The role was left vacant when former principal Rod Whelan left the school unexpectedly in August 2019, triggering an outpouring of concern from the community.
Mr Browne's appointment fulfils the CEDWW's obligations to the findings of an independent review concluded by KB Advisory earlier this year.
When handed down June 2020, the review recommended the CEDWW seek to fill the principal position from outside the diocese.

"This position presents an exciting new challenge in my leadership journey," Mr Browne said.
"Kildare is a leading Catholic School with outstanding outcomes and Im very excited to be able to continue Kildare's tradition of excellence in all areas."
