A few extra rounds during the period has yielded the rewards for the Wagga City Golf Club member after she won her way through to the state finals of Golf NSW's women's medal competition.
Each club plays six rounds from February to September across three divisions to determine their winners, who progressed to the regional finals at Thurgoona last Monday.
Despite playing in division two, 64-year-old Hogan won her way through to the state tournament at Stonecutter's Ridge in early December with 99 off the stick, with her division two handicap of 26 giving her the overall winning round of 73.
Division one consisted of players with a handicap of up to 20, division two from 20.1 to 29 and division three from 29.1 to 54.0.
"At club level I must have had the best rounds through the year, so that qualified me (for the regional tournament) thanks to my handicap in division two," she said.
"We'll get information from Golf NSW in the next couple of weeks about going to Stonecutter's Ridge in Sydney. Apparently it's in the 100 best golf courses in Australia, it sounds a bit challenging to me.
"I've been finding the fairways pretty well. I wouldn't say my putting is brilliant but I'm getting good length."
Hogan said she has been putting her clubs to use since the COVID pandemic began.
"I've been playing golf since I retired but I've been able to play a bit more golf since COVID. It's probably the period I've been playing my best," she said.
Captain of the Riverina Ladies Golfing Association, Janelle Doust, said Hogan deserved her shot at state level after being the Riverina's standout at the regional finals.
"The event was open to all players in the Riverina Ladies Golfing Association. We sent four ladies down across the three divisions, and she was the star of our team," she said.
