Victorian Opposition Leader Michael O'Brien is making "no apology" for criticising the state's coronavirus response after an online poll showed his approval rating at just 15 per cent.

An Ipsos poll commissioned by Nine News and The Age, published Monday, shows Mr O'Brien is failing to land any blows on the government led by Daniel Andrews.
While 52 per cent of the 858 Victorians surveyed approved of Mr Andrews' performance amid the pandemic, only 15 per cent approved of Mr O'Brien's.
His approval rating among Coalition supporters surveyed was also low - at just 27 per cent.
Speaking outside state parliament on Tuesday, Mr O'Brien refused to comment on the poll.
But he insisted he had not been too negative as Victorians endured the nation's toughest lockdown.
"What I'd say is I make absolutely no apology for standing up for Victorians who have been hurt by this lockdown, who've been hurt by Labor's second wave," Mr O'Brien said.
Mr O'Brien said it was his job as opposition leader to prosecute the government over its failed hotel quarantine program, which is to blame for the state's deadly second wave of COVID-19.
"Do you really think that this government should be allowed off the hook for what they did with hotel quarantine?" Mr O'Brien said.
"The job of an opposition is to call out where the government gets it wrong and demand action to fix it. That's what I've been doing, that's what every member of my team has been doing. Some people might not like it, but we've got a job to do."
An inquiry into the program will hand down its findings on November 6.
The state, meanwhile, has managed to defeat the second wave, with zero cases and zero deaths recorded the past two days.
A number of restrictions are also set to be eased in Melbourne on Wednesday.
Mr O'Brien said it was a win for Victorians, not for the premier and his government.
He attacked Mr Andrews for tweeting photos of himself on Monday night about to enjoy a doughnut, signifying no new cases or deaths that day, and a whiskey.
"It was pretty tone-deaf for those people who have suffered so much through this lockdown," the Liberal leader said.
Mr O'Brien was "very" confident he would be leading the opposition at the next state election, scheduled for 2022.
