Following on from a traumatic bushfire season, Lumsden was set to release her latest album Fallow before the COVID-19 pandemic presented another obstacle.
"We call it COVID Friday, on March 13. That was the day the album was set for release but everything had to be swapped around for an online release," she said.
"It was a bit of a blow, because we worked so hard for two years on this, and then it all changed."
But despite the challenges, the album took off an landed Lumsden her third ARIA nomination for Best Country Album.
"I think in a year like this, or any year really, this is incredible news," she said.
"It was a shining light in the dark, and you just watch what people have turned to in lockdown - the arts.
"It's so important to have that creativity around us and this kind of recognition really reminds us of that."
In other news:
After a few setbacks, the Fallow tour is set to kick off across the region, visiting Murrah Hall on November 8, Junee's Athenium Theatre on November 28, and Griffith Regional Theatre on November 29.
"We simply cannot wait to get out there and play these songs live in November," Lumsden said.
