Leeton United's last first grade premiership came in 1993 and they will get their chance to change that when they take on Hanwood in Sunday's Pascoe Cup grand final at Equex Centre.

It is a massive occasion for Leeton United and Alampi has not shied away from that in the preparation for the decider.

"It's a massive occasion. There's no point saying it's not," Alampi said.

"It's a fantastic achievement, it hasn't just been a one-year journey, this group of blokes, a lot of them have been together for a long time.

"It's a massive achievement but making it's not what we want, we want to go all the way to win it. We've done the hard work to get into there, now probably even the hardest part is to finish the job."

Alampi was part of that last premiership as a player so he knows what it takes to get the job done. His message to the players this week has been simple.

"My message to the lads all week, and since we made it, has been hard work but just enjoy it," he said.

"Enjoy the week, you've got to enjoy it, you don't want to be stressing out otherwise you play the game in your head then come Sunday you're already cooked. I said to the boys, enjoy yourselves but come Sunday be ready for the biggest game of your lives, pretty much, and that's what it is.

"Some clubs say they are easy to make but they're not easy to make. They're hard work to get there and you never know if you're going to get there again. I've asked them to enjoy it, I've asked them to work hard, which they always have, and I'm super proud of them but we all want to go that one step further and win it. We don't just want to make it."

While desperate to win the title, Alampi knows Hanwood, the defending champions, will prove extremely hard to beat.

"I said to my boys at the start of last year that whoever beats Hanwood will probably win the comp, and I told them that again this year and that's the way it's worked out," he said.

"They've been back in Football Wagga for two years and they've made the grand final twice. They're the benchmark and for me they're the favourites. We've both had good years, it's just who puts it together on the day I suppose, whoever performs the best on the day will get the cookies."

Alampi believes the key to victory is being clinical in front of goals.

"Whoever is more clinical I think and makes less mistakes," he said.

"At the end of the day I think both sides will be very hungry but grand finals are won and lost just with the little things.

"They've been the benchmark of the comp for two years, we've had some good challenges, we beat each other once last year, we drew against each other this year, they've been tight matches the whole time and I don't anticipate anything different. I think the one percenters, they all add up, the little things."
