Hanwood defeated Lake Albert 2-1 to win last year's Pascoe Cup in their first season back in the competition. It completed a brilliant year, where the Griffith club had established themselves as the best team in Football Wagga.

Their journey to a second consecutive grand final has not been as easy. After a number of departures over the off-season, the new-look Hanwood team was forced to work hard to make finals, then had to come from third with wins over Young and Henwood Park to qualify for the decider.

Now they're through, Hanwood will call on all their grand final experience as they prepare to take on a Leeton United team playing in their first decider in 16 years and looking to end a 27-year title drought.

Agresta concedes the two club's stark history can be viewed a number of ways.

"It's one of those things, it can go both ways," Agresta said.

"From their point of view, it's getting in there and having that excitement, ambition and drive because they haven't been in there for so long.

"From our point of view, hopefully it gives us calmness more than anything. We've got a few guys who have been around and been there before, and knowing the feeling of how those games can go. You can let the occasion get the better of you.

"We've got still six or seven from last year plus Michael (Musitano) and Joe (Catanzariti)...so from that point of view, we've got an experienced side when it comes to finals and stuff so hopefully that will help us out and help the couple of younger boys we've got in the team too."

He said his team only need to look back on last year's grand final to learn how games can twist and turn over the course of 90 minutes.

"It's just going to come down to some moments," he said.

"We look back to last year where we went down 1-0 early. I said to the boys the last couple of weeks, touching on that, it's a 90 minute game if you concede a goal early you can't go and play the game like it's the 90th minute when there is 75 minutes to go. You've got to play out the 90 minutes and see how things go

"Certainly the grand final last year, Kane (Baumer), if he puts that penalty away and it's a totally different game. Then Joey (Schirripa), two bits of individual brilliance and he gets us over the line. It's whoever takes their chances on the day I suppose."

With two solid finals wins under their belt, Agresta is happy with how his team is positioned heading into the grand final.

"We've built a bit of momentum the last couple of weeks," he said.

"It was coming up three weeks that we hadn't played so it was good to get a couple of games under our belt.

"This week's really been about freshening everyone up. Obviously we had a couple of boys who come off with a few little niggles in the last game. It's been about getting them right. This week, we're not going to get any fitter or stronger or faster or whatever, we've just been doing what we have been all year, tidying things up and getting through the week and that's been about it."

Hanwood and Leeton United played out a 1-1 draw in their only prior meeting this season.

After missing the 2-0 win over Young due to suspension, Daniel Johnson and Jordan Beltrame both started last week's preliminary final against Henwood Park on the bench before coming on to impact the game.

Agresta said he has not settled on how his starting 11 will look.

"It's probably going to come down to fitness and stuff. How the other boys pull up going into the game," he said.

"I suppose the beauty last week, having Danny on the bench who is originally a centre half, and he's been playing as a makeshift striker this year, when Sevi went down, we didn't lose anything, Danny went straight in there and he's used to playing that position.

"It's having that flexibility off the bench too."
