Up to 30 golfers of all abilities took to the green on Saturday to remember the life of local legend, Jack Mooney, a man who played at an enviable seven handicap.
The late Jack, his son recalls, would have spent his life on the course if he could. Even in torrential rain, he would be out there.
Thankfully, those who came to commemorate him on Saturday did not have to face the same conditions.
"The last couple [of golfers] had come in just as it started [raining]," said son Pat Mooney.
"They needed an umbrella for the last couple of holes, but we really fluked it getting some good weather for the day."
Given the deluge on Friday combined with the weekend's heavy rainfall saw up to half the October record in just a few days, avoiding the rain on Saturday would have been no easy task.
"We really didn't know what to expect after Friday, but we did well," Mr Mooney said.
The memorial golf day was established 21 years ago, a few years after the passing of Jack Mooney in March 1996.
A social competition, it raises money for the Junee Golf Club. This year's winners of the stableford competition were Carmel Wright and Joe Gregor.
