In line with October as Mental Health Month, the Wagga Women's Health Centre is hosting a photography competition called What Women See.
Health promotion worker, Claire Kendall, said it is not about photos of people, children, home or animals.
Instead, they want to see women connecting with their broader space through the lens of their camera.
"This year's theme for Mental Health Month is about tuning in," Ms Kendall said.
"It's all about standing shoulder to shoulder with those who have suffered or are suffering mental ill-health, reducing stigma and also checking in on yourself.
"It's important to make sure that you look after yourself."
Ms Kendall said it's essential to do this every year, but now - more than ever - it is incredibly crucial following the horrific bushfires and the strain of an international pandemic.
IN OTHER NEWS:
She added social restrictions and not being to travel has contributed to feelings of isolation with the community.
"We are inviting women and girls from across Wagga and surrounding areas to get out their cameras, get outside and get involved and recognise what is around you," she said.
"One of the greatest antidotes to feeling a bit down, feeling a bit isolated and stressed is gratitude.
"Photos should be of the landscapes, rivers, scenery rather than photos of themselves, children, pets or homes."
Entry to the competition is free, and keen photographers can enter as many times as they like. Ms Kendall encouraged those who prefer to remain anonymous to submit their photo under a pseudonym.
The contest closes October 31, email submissions to wwhc@waggawomen.org.au or enter via social media using #whatwomensee.
