However, there was only one major mention of Ms Berejiklian's name during Mr Maguire's first day of giving evidence at the Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC) on Wednesday.

Counsel assisting ICAC Scott Robertson defied public expectation that he would begin his scheduled two-day examination of Mr Maguire with questions over the property deals that he mentioned to Ms Berejiklian over calls and text messages.

Mr Robertson instead moved through the topics in roughly the same order in which they arose through the previous 15 days of hearings with other witnesses.

ICAC was played an intercepted phone call made in September 2017 between Sydney developer Joseph Alha and Mr Maguire.

"I think I should be privileged to one appointment ... with Anthony Roberts and Gladys," Mr Alha said in the call, referring to Ms Berejiklian and the then-NSW Planning Minister.

According to Ms Berejiklian's testimony at ICAC, she was still in a "close personal relationship" with Mr Maguire at that time.

Mr Alha has told ICAC that he had been friends with Mr Maguire since he was aged 22 and considered him a "mentor".

ICAC has been told Mr Maguire arranged a meeting between himself, Mr Alha and Ms Berejiklian in the NSW Premier's office, but that was not addressed during yesterday's hearing

Mr Maguire will return to give evidence on Thursday to the ICAC inquiry into allegations he used his public office for personal gain between 2012 and 2018.
