THE attempted armed robbery of a young boy walking to school is one of two alleged incidents which led to the arrest of a Wagga man yesterday.

Police have arrested and charged a 19-year-old man who they allege approached a 16-year-old boy on September 22, threatening him with a knife and demanding cash and property.
The boy was walking to his school in Kooringal when the incident occurred, but managed to escape and refused his demands, reporting it to teachers straight away.
Riverina Police District Detective Acting Inspector Phil Malligan said the two individuals were not known to each other, and commended the young boy for his quick response in reporting the incident.
The 16-year-old was not injured during the ordeal.
"This is a scary thing for any young child walking to any school anywhere in NSW or across Australia," Detective Inspector Malligan said.
"The fact that the young man was not injured is maybe more luck than anything, but it was absolutely the right thing to do to report that immediately so police could act."

Detective Inspector Malligan said the man was also sought by police in relation to a subsequent home invasion.
The same 19-year-old man allegedly entered a residential premises in Kooringal between the late hours of October 3 and early hours of October 4.
Police allege the man assaulted the 21-year-old man inside the home, leaving him with serious injuries.
"He received a number of injuries, which he is still receiving medical treatment for," Detective Inspector Malligan said.
The 19-year-old has since been charged with demanding property with menaces with intent to steal, and special aggravated commit indictable offence in dwelling and break out, inflict Grievous Bodily Harm.
He was refused bail and is set to appear in Wagga Local Court.
