A man will appear in a Wagga court on Sunday after being charged with allegedly attempting to travel across the NSW and Victoria border in a taxi while out on bail.

At about 4.30pm on Saturday, police stopped a Victorian taxi at a checkpoint on the Hume Highway at Albury.
A NSW Police Force statement said the taxi's 26-year-old male passenger was asked to produce a permit that turned out not to be valid
"When he was spoken to further, police will allege the man stated he wanted to go shopping in Albury," the police statement said.
"He was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with not comply with noticed direction [regarding] section 7/8/9 -COVID-19 and breach of bail.
"He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Bail Court [on Sunday]."
