Parks and strategic operations manager Henry Pavitt said the zoo would be enforcing COVID rules, including a 250-person cap on the number of people inside at any one time.
"Please be patient with staff if they are required to close the gates periodically until numbers reach the safe limit," Mr Pavitt said.
"It is also recommended that people wear masks during their visit."
Wagga City Council business support officer said they would also be using a new QR code sign-in system, with all visitors required to leave their details for the sake of contact tracing.
"When you arrive at the zoo, you will find sign in station instructions at the gate. There are two options, you can sign in using the QR code on your smart phone via your camera, or via a URL code," Mrs Little said.
"So, don't forget to bring your mobile phone along so you can sign in safely and securely before entering the zoo."
As part of its COVID-safe measures, the zoo has hand sanitising stations located around the facility.
