A Victorian man on his way to Wagga has been fined by police for intending to travel beyond the border bubble after entering NSW.

The 26-year-old told police he resided in Irymple, near Mildura, and was travelling to Wagga for work but intended to move to Burwood, Sydney.
The man produced a permit and was advised by officers it was only valid to enter the border region.
Griffith Highway Patrol officers stopped the Subaru he was driving in a car park in Hay about 5pm on Monday, September 21.

Police checks revealed the vehicle had a warning for previously attempting to cross the border on September 16.
The Victorian man was issued with a $1000 police infringement notice for failing to comply with a noticed direction in relation to s7, 8, 9 - COVID-19 and directed to return to the border region.
Police continue to appeal to the community to report suspected breaches of any ministerial direction or behaviour which may impact on the health and safety of the community.
