Do you miss this jingle?
The weather has warmed up, we have had some rain and there's an element of enthusiasm in the agricultural industry.
However, this year we won't be able to gather at the annual Henty Machinery Field Days and enjoy the camaraderie and atmosphere the event is so well known for.
It doesn't matter what is happening in agriculture. Henty always serves a valuable role.
Henty during a drought is great because it gets people out and about and they talk to each other.
The exhibits are still just as valuable in terms of a "down the track" purchase for when things improve.
When seasons are good it's time to make a purchase or upgrade the sheep and cattle yards.
And for many in the Eastern Riverina the event is the most important fundraiser on the calendar year.
Sporting clubs, parents and citizens groups and churches all pull together and volunteer on the site in a bid to raise funds that go straight back into the community.
Everything from parking cars, to serving hamburgers or delivering parcels is important at Henty.
Imagine how good the crop trials would have looked this year?
Handy rain, followed by up to 20mm on the weekend would have enabled this site to look a treat.
The working dog trials would have been a hive of activity as usual and machinery exhibitors would have had the latest in innovation to showcase.
Now the focus is on 2021.
And going forward hopefully a blueprint for running events and preventing the spread of coronavirus could be a possibility.
Or if the timeframe works there could be a vaccine.
It's hard to know. But one thing is for sure, people will be keen to get out and about and support the southern NSW event in 2021.
