The under 11s grand final against New Kids Rainbows was among the highlights of Wagga Netball's big day at Equex and the dramatic finish put more than the players through their paces.
"I have a smart watch and at the end of the game it actually congratulated me on a workout because my heart was racing that much," Vixens coach Sharnie Moore said.
Goal shooter Isla Galloway delivered the winner to reward an all-round team performance that brought up plenty of emotion at the final whistle.
"There were lots of happy tears. It was beautiful," Moore said.
Vixens were beaten on grand final day last year and were determined not to meet the same fate this year.
Their only loss was by a goal in the first round to the Rainbows. The rematch was a winner-takes-all event and it lived up to expectations, keeping all in the stadium on the edge of their seats.
On a good day for the club, Nixons Thunder and Nixons Diamonds won the two under 16 divisions and Nixons Swifts were too good for Kooringal White in the under 14s division two decider.
All three under 14s premiers enjoyed unbeaten seasons with Uranqunity Superstars edging out Kooringal Blue in another one-goal thriller, 29-28, in division three, while Tumut beat Kooringal Maroon by three goals in division one.
In the under 12s, Junee were too good for Nixons Fever in division two while Uranquinty Diamonds' hopes of grand final redemption were rewarded with a 27-18 win against Turvey Park in division one.
It wrapped up the perfect season for the Diamonds, just as Uranquinty Rubies completed a clean sweep in the under 18s, beating Tumbarumba Fliers.
New Kids Little Aces beat stablemates New Kids Kookaburras in the under 11s division two.
In the under 10s competitions, Kooringal White and Shooting Stars Diamonds continued their unbeaten seasons to claim the two premierships.
