Hayden Ashcroft stepped into the role previously held by Glenn Dumbrell and Ben Jeffery this season.
However after returning to his junior club this season, the 23-year-old couldn't commit to another year.
"I'm not looking at over committing but looking at things away from football for now," Ashcroft said.
"Football has always been at the forefront of what I've done for the last few years and I know I'm still only young but I really want to work towards things away from football.
"Football is always going to be in the picture for me but if I can work towards something bigger that is what I would like to do."
Ashcroft doesn't expect to remain in Wagga next year and harbours aspirations to return to Sydney.
Kangaroos only won one game this season, but Ashcroft is confident the young side is heading in the right direction with good talent coming through the junior ranks.
Ashcroft joins Gundagai mentor Adam Perry in stepping down after the 2020 season.
Luke Berkrey and Jarrod Crane have been announced as his successors at the Tigers.
Nathan Rose is locked in for another season at Southcity, Nick Hall is expected to remain in Young's coaching role unless a playing option becomes available but the remaining positions are currently undecided.
